Sebastian de la Cruz Sings National Anthem at NASL Soccer Game

Many will remember America’s Got Talent veteran, eleven-year-old Sebastien de la Cruz, when he was propelled to even greater fame during the 2013 NBA Finals after singing the National Anthem before Game 3 in San Antonio. After Sebastien appeared on TV singing the Star-Spangled Banner, a slew of insensitive and racist commentary followed on Twitter. Sebastien responded with integrity and a determination to not let those shallow comments affect him. Since that incident, young Sebastien has been booked solid to sing the National Anthem at sporting events all over. Follow the link below for images:

WNBA Finals Game 2 – Detroit Shock vs. San Antonio Silver Stars

SAN ANTONIO — The Detroit shock went up two games to one in the five-game WNBA Finals series tonight as they beat the San Antonio Silver Stars 69 – 61 in San Antonio. The Shock’s Katie Smith posted 22 points on the night to lead her team to victory in the Alamo City. SAN ANTONIO — The Washington Mystics left the AT&T Center empty-handed tonight as the Silver Stars sent them packing with a final score of 63 – 52. Washington was limited to only six points in the fourth quarter. San Antonio’s Becky Hammon recorded a game-high 20 points in the win.

Barack Obama Begins Texas Campaign

2008 US presidential candidate Barack Obama made his first Texas campaign stop in San Antonio today, speaking before a crowd of thousands at the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center on the city’s West Side. Obama held a round table discussion about housing disparities, with members of the local community, before moving to the outdoor amphitheater to address the crowd.
